1924 Japanese Exclusion Act
As part of the federal immigration laws enacted in 1924, a specific measure was passed by Congress to effectively ban all immigration to the United States from Japan. The government and people of Japan viewed this law as an extreme insult. Millions of Japanese citizens would never forgive this affront and the American racism it represented.
