More on Military Robots

This high-flying, long-range, ordinance-packed unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) is the perfect "Eye in the Sky" prowler. Developed  by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, the MQ-9 Reaper is the Air Force's latest ground-controlled hunter-killer UAV, designed for high-altitude, long-endurance battlefield reconnaissance.

The Honeywell TP331-10 turbo-prop engine, at 930-shaft horsepower, allows Reaper the ability to stay airborne from 14 hours and carry a payload of 800 pounds, with a maximum weapons payload of 1.5 tons. The MQ-9 is fitted with 14 Hellfire missiles, or can be traded off with other laser-guided bombs like the GBU-12 Raytheon, capable of penetrating up to 2.4 meters of reinforced concrete.

The GBU integrates semi-active laser guidance with a GPS targeting system, for accuracy and reliability of payload efficiency.
