Victory (1981) WWII

Set in a prisoner of war camp in Nazi Germany, the movie follows the story of prisoners Captain Robert Hatch (Sylvester Stalone) and Captain John Colby (Michael Caine) and their planned escape in France at a soccer match against German troops.

Centered on the soccer match and the hope of escape, the prisoners keep up good spirits, despite their imprisonment. The release of the movie coincides with the 1981 World Cup competition that resulted in a close finish between the U.S. and Germany.

Former POW Talks About Real Life in a German Prisoner of War Camp.
