Weapons that Changed the World

Planes just do it better. Whether you're talking about spying on the enemy, transporting troops or plain old attacking - planes allow soldiers to be faster and more heavily armed.

At first military aircraft were spy planes, but once those recon vehicles morphed into bombers, the world would never be the same. That change, and airpower's coming of age, happened during World War II. Every type of aircraft had its place in the air war: pathfinders led bomber squadrons to their targets, while fighters kept the bombers safe and made sure the heavies were able to complete their mission.

And let's not forget that without airpower America might not have been able to employ the next weapon on our list: Nuclear Weapons.
